Prof. Olubunmi ATOLANI is distinguished Medicinal Chemist at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Physical Sciences, University of Ilorin where he brings extensive experience spanning many years of university teaching, high‑impact research, and strategic academic administration, both within the university and across broader scholarly institutions. He has served as Assistant Director – Center for International Education; Deputy – Director, Centre for Research Development and In-house Training (CREDIT); and Coordinator, African Centre for Herbal Research, Ilorin (ACHRI). 

His areas of research interest covers Natural Products Chemistry, Organic Synthesis (Medicinal Chemistry), Chemoinformatics (Structural Bioinformatics), Computational Chemistry, Cosmeceutical Chemistry, Drug Development and Scientometric Evaluation. Prof. Atolani has to his credit over 120 peer-reviewed journal articles and Books/Chapters with majority of them scopus/ISI-indexed. He has consistently been named by Sci-val among the top 500 scholar in Nigeria since 2019. He has served as a keynote and guest speaker, presenting invited lectures and position papers at leading universities, research institutes, and centres across various countries/continents. He is a seasoned reviewer for many reputable Journals and a member of various journal editorial boards. He is currently in various research groups that have won local, national and international competitive scientific research grants such as Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft-Germany, UNESCO, TWAS, TETFUND, SEEDING LABS, RMR, EACR inter alia. He is a renowned plenary invited or guest speaker in many academic forums at various occasions around the globe. He is an external examiner and distinguished research assessor at University of KwaZulu Natal, UKZN, South Africa, Cape Peninsula University of Technology, CPUT, South Africa, Nation Research Fund, Mexico, National Research Fund, South Africa among others. His research outputs and acumen has been exhibited in many local and international research scientific forums in Nigeria, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Ghana, Niger Republic, Kenya, Togo, United State of America (USA) inter alia.
